Fast Friday

Well, it's been a busy/fun and kind of stressful week.  It started out with our freezer going out.  We defrosted the coils (they were basically one solid block of ice) and it seemed to be working normally again for a few days. Then it started to get warm again. We lost a lot of food in the process. But we called a repairman and he decided that we needed to replace the thermostat.  Fingers crossed that it's all fixed now forever.

Also last week, I noticed that I had all these bumps all over my arm. My brother is a doctor, so anytime anything remotely weird happens to me health wise I text him. I didn't have any other symptoms and it wasn't hives. We decided it must have been a virus. Interestingly, my mom also got bumps on her neck, same thing. They are gone now so we're all good.

We took the kids to the rec center swimming pool for a couple of hours and that was fun.  They liked that it was something different and we got to go down some water slides. As we were leaving, we found this guy walking on our stuff. Trevon picked it up to help the kids see he wasn't scary.

Then we went to get some snow cones. I'm not a huge fan of snow cones, I'd rather have ice cream. So I had them put a scoop of ice cream in my snow cone. It was giant and delicious.

We finished that day off with some track time. The kids got to run around and play while we got to visit.

This week we pulled out our double stroller because we decided to sell it. We never use it. The girls are big enough to walk and I don't love pushing this thing. I really regret selling my nice single running stroller to get this. But it is what it is. Magically the second we pulled it out the kids all wanted to sit in it. So I took them on a walk around the block which involved a lot of fighting over who gets to sit where.

Wednesday was spent hiking and exploring with cousins. We took them on a little hike near us.

Then we found a lake with a picnic table and at lunch.

Then explored some more.

Thursday was this girls birthday! I can't believe she's 7!

She requested a mermaid cake. This is what we came up with.

My mom takes the kids birthday shopping so that they can pick whatever they want. She picked an American Girl Doll.

We had cake and ice cream and she got to open presents.

J is just so sweet and kind. She has been such a happy and helpful girl lately and I'm loving it.

My workouts looked like this for the week:

Saturday: Tempo run ---> 5 miles

Sunday: Rest day

Monday: Easy run ---> 4 miles

Tuesday: Full body workout

Wednesday: ---> 3 miles of hiking

Thursday: Tempo run --->9.5 miles

Friday: Speed work ---> 3.5 ish miles

Total: 25 miles

How I Handle Running in the Heat

What is in store for your weekend?

Who has an August birthday?

  1. Looks like you had such a fun and active family week. I have not had a snow cone in forever!

  2. What a great day. I prefer ice cream too.

You had quite an active week. I am impressed that you run the next day after a 9 mile tempo run.

This weekend? Running, of course on Sat and all the stuff that doesn't get done during the work week and boating on Sunday.

    1. The tempo was definitely on the slower side of a tempo haha. I have to make sure I’m getting my important runs in because there’s a chance I won’t be able to this weekend :(

  3. What a fun and busy week! I think I still have all of the princess cake decorations hiding in drawers around here. THere's a place here that specifically makes sno-cones wrapped around ice cream. It really is delish!

  4. Awww, Happy Birthday to your little sweetie ;-) Our girls had American dolls (well, we still have them...somewhere LOL) and they loved playing with them when they were younger.

  5. What a cute birthday cake! That snow cone/ice cream combo sounds interesting and yummy! I hope the freezer is fixed. It's so annoying when food goes bad that way.

    1. Thank you! Yes, after a week of food going bad and the freezer going on and off at it’s will, it’s finally fixed!!

  6. Such a fun week! I agree I prefer ice cream too. Happy Birthday to you little one.

  7. Looks like such a fun week! My kids like to go to the track with me too :-) Your children are beautiful, LOVE the pictures!!

  8. That snow cone looks really good!
Ugh about the freezer! I hope it is all fixed!
Looks like it was a super fun birthday week!

  9. I too prefer ice cream over a snow cone.
    Happy belated birthday!
