Caramel Chocolate Brownies

Happy Halloween! I had a post ready all about our costumes for this year but then decided to share a recipe today and I'll share the costumes on the Fast Friday post.

One of my favorite dessert recipes to make is caramel chocolate brownies. I got this recipe from my aunt and I'm asked to make it all the time. Trevon had a contest at work for a Halloween treat and we decided to give these a try for the contest.

Like I said, I make these all the time. But the first batch I made today turned out terribly. I have no clue what went wrong with them and when Trevon called to ask me about why the picture looked so bad I couldn't stop laughing because they really looked Halloween-ish and gorry haha.  But I needed to make them again. So Trevon stopped by the store on his way home from work and picked up a few more things to make them again. I'll just warn you now that the pictures of these are not pretty and I'll change them when I have better lighting. But I finished making them at 9:00 PM and our kitchen lighting is yellow, the walls are also a brownish yellow, the counters are an orangey color and so are the cupboards. If I had it my way, that would all change, and I'm not sure who loved that color combo before we moved in, but it needs an update. We don't own our home or it wouldn't need an update. The point is, the lighting is bad in some of these. So bare with me, I'll add better pictures as soon as I can :)

Here is what you'll need:

1 box cake mix german chocolate flavor
1 cube butter
1 can evaporate milk
1 bag white chocolate chips
1 bag of caramels

First pre-heat your oven to 350, then mix your melted butter, and 1/3 cup evaporated milk together. Press 2/3 of the mixture into a 9X11 baking dish. Bake for 7 minutes. Meanwhile, unwrap your caramel and add it to a medium saucepan. Add 2/3 cup evaporated milk and mix on medium heat until melted. Pull the brownies out of the oven and pour the white chocolate chips on them. Then pour the caramel over it. Lastly, sprinkle the remanding brownie mix to the top. Put it back in the oven for 15 minutes.  Let the brownies cool for a little while. They are really sticky when they are hot!

And just in case you wanted to see the disaster of brownies on the first one, here you go! At least the lighting is better on this picture HAHA.
